“Look at that view!” Exclaimed Scott. “It’s amazing!” Replied Branden. The exciting view of the Himalayas stood before the 2 travellers as others around them stared up at the great height of the series of mountains before them. “RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!” Everyone spun around as the sound of a car screeching filled the fresh air. Next, everybody turned back to look at the series of mountains named the Himalayas.” Quick, take a photo!” Said Scott. “But it is yellow!” “Wha-” Scott’s eyes widened as the breathtaking change of scenery and colour sat before him. “What happened?” Asked Scott. “I don’t know.” Replied Branden.
This week for spelling my teacher included the challenge of finding the meanings of the prefixes in the words that I had. This week I had the following words.
Analytic, amphora, antivirus, antidote, apology, apocrypha, diameter, dialogue, eclipse, eccentric, enable, encrypt, epilogue, epistle.
I managed to get all of the words spellt correctly. I think that the words are about different prefixes like ep and en.
An-not, without Amphi– both, around Anti– against, opposite Apo– from, off Dia– through, across Ec– out, out of En– in, into Ep– on, to

Spelling City-Greek Prefixes
The horrific event of the MH17 crash has been a real shock all around the world although people are trying to prevent this from ever happening again. The Malaysian Airlines plane crashed near the war zone in Ukraine so now many other airlines are trying to avoid flying above the war zone. But, some airlines are still flying above this area. They say that it will cost the company and customers much more money to fly around this region due to the fact that there will have to be more fuel. In this case, customers will have to pay around $66 more than they already have to fly around Ukraine. But I would definitely pay more, especially if it means it could save my life. Planes are coming in and out of airports all the time, and most of them complete their tasks without any problems at all. This all goes down to the people who work hard on their jobs. Airlines are always maintaining their planes and pilots are always following direct routes to places around the world so there’s not much to worry about. Although, it’s natural to feel a bit frightened or nervous when something like this happens, especially when you are going on a flight.

Behind The News- Air Safety
This week for spelling I had the following words.
Unforgettable, prediction, outpatient, revolutionary, disbandment, transmitter, irretrievable, endorsement, deceitful, abnormality, incidence, commencement, excavation, delinquency, proliferation, transportation, concordant, abbreviation, psychotherapy, exaltation.
I think that this list of words is about suffixes because most of the words have a base word and a suffix. For example abnormality. The base word in this word is abnormal.
When it comes to class you have to be focused and engaged in what you are learning, but that doesn’t mean that you have to be put in the naughty corner when you have done the wrong thing. I mean, what are you actually going to benefit from or learn, from sitting in the corner of the room? In the ‘olden days’, you would probably know that the teacher used to smack a naughty child if they did the wrong thing. But now a days teachers try to take a calmer, more sensible approach (at least for some). For example putting a child in a situation where they might not know the answer to a question to check if they were listening. This is a good example of a teacher making a more sensible approach to telling off a child. It is also a good way to get students more involved in the learning or discussion that they are having so that they can benefit more from the session. So the next time you look at an old video of children in a classroom, just consider yourself lucky to not be getting your knuckle smacked by a hard wooden ruler.

The Rhinoships were advancing towards Earth gaining speed every millisecond. All of the oxygen in the air was being extracted every time the Spacerhinos sped up. The Spacerhinos, they were killing the life on Earth! No trees were left. No grass was moving. Just chaos. As I tried to rush people to the hospital for oxygen supplies I started to have trouble breathing as well. I got to the hospital and found that there was only one more oxygen pack. “But-“I was interrupted by a paramedic. “I’m afraid it’s the last one,”he said “and you’re not getting it.” “No!”
As Mark and I were walking through the vast vegetation in the dark forest, we could hear some loud noises coming from several of the ancient, enormous trees. Then, through the bushes I could see something moving. It looked like a face. I gestured for Mark to follow but he was too scared to go deeper into the dark, lonely woods. I climbed through the large bundle of bushes to find a face implanted on a tree, living and breathing! The forest seemed alive as the stars twinkled and the moon rose. ‘This is the best discovery man kind will ever see!’ I thought.
It was another ordinary day in Aerolaj. The sun was shining and the crocodiles racing. Everything was jolly well. People were out and about, cruising on their new hover boards, shopping for new clothes. Everybody was having a good day.
“BOOM!” Loud noises filled the air as many people suffered the most horrific deaths. The noises were ear wrenching and made people’s ears bleed. Fires formed as buildings exploded and windows shattered. The historic landmarks that were once solid and well, were now destroyed by the Aerolaj Hunters.
At this stage many people were trying to gain access to the escape pods in the heart of the city. But there was no hope. The Aerolaj Hunters were guarding the pods with their lives and would not let anyone pass through. It looked like the human life on Aerolaj just died out.
The war continued between us and the Aerolaj Hunters. Many people were killed and others ran away. Those who escaped the hands of the Aerolaj Hunters were considered lucky, and I was one of them. The war had gone on for far too long. The other survivors including myself decided to put a stop to this never ending war. Our solution, well, lets just say we know a few bomb experts.
Making the story:
To make this story I went through a number of steps. First we were asked to write a beginning and concluding paragraph that we could then add on to. Next we thought of ideas for the middle of our stories. In my case it was the attack from the Aerolaj Hunters.
Once we had finished that we then wrote two paragraphs to describe what happened in that scene. We did change the writing up a little by selecting a story type from the selection. I picked Sensory Description for my piece. For example, ‘The sun was shining and the crocodiles racing ‘. It is most commonly used at the beginning and ending paragraphs/sentences. The other types included, Intriguing Question, Onomatopoeia, Feeling and Intense Action. We used the paragraph sandwich to structure our paragraphs and form a good bit of writing. Then we proofread and edited to find our finished product.
What is the paragraph sandwich?
The paragraph sandwich is a way that you can structure your paragraphs. We have been using it a lot this year, and I am sure that it has been helping everyone with their paragraph structure. It is called the paragraph sandwich because their are two similar things on the top and bottom and different things in the middle. This is what it looks like:
- Topic Sentence
- Supporting Sentence
- Detailed Sentence
